Because the material may alter slightly over time, it is recommended to avoid repeated rubbing. Should the piece become soiled, clean the raffia gently with a soft, damp, light-colored cloth. Never use solvents on raffia. Dry the piece immediately with a soft, dry cloth so that the raffia fibers do not absorb water and swell. Finally, if your piece comes into contact with corrosives such as sand or salt, clean it gently with a soft-bristled brush.
