Les Extraits Collection
Through six compositions, Louis Vuitton reinvents the Extrait de Parfum, the purest and most precious form in perfumery. Elevating perfume to an art form, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and Frank Gehry break the rules and create pure emotion. More than a collaboration, the collection is an encounter, an ode to movement, to its transparency and its fluidity.
Les Extraits Collection
Extrait de Parfum, Reinvented
Inspired by Frank Gehry’s unique aesthetics based on movement and distortion, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud pushes hypersensitivity to the extreme, concentrating the quintessence of perfumery. Five fragrances without top, heart, or base notes, deconstructing the very architecture of fragrance, the master perfumer revisits perfume’s major themes, twisting them, expanding them, and exaggerating certain facets, in order to reveal ultimate purity.
A Sculptural Odyssey
This is the very first time that Frank Gehry, one of the greatest living masters of architecture, has designed a perfume bottle. Altering the lines of the original shape, the architect’s passion for sailing is expressed with added curves that suggest a transparent sail skimming through space. Taking the form of an imaginary metal flower, the cap reflects sea and spray, and above all, the absolute movement of life.

A One-of-a-Kind Encounter
A conversation between two masters who create and design, one with his eye, the other with his nose, the sharing of an ideal in both a material form and an invisible one comes to fruition in Les Extraits Collection.
I wanted to venture where no one goes anymore. To reinvent the notion of an Extrait in a contemporary way. To bring it light, expand matter, and lighten things up. I wanted to deconstruct the very architecture of perfume.
Jacques Cavallier Belletrud
I wanted to approach the project from a sculptural point of view. To bring something different to perfume. It’s not a finished geometric form, it’s just movement. Visual movement with the added interest of ephemerality.

An Invitation to Travel
The new Flaconnier des Extraits designed by Frank Gehry celebrates Louis Vuitton’s heritage and trunk-making savoir-faire, showcasing the architect’s ability to create movement through static forms. Its rounded, supple shape perfectly houses all five bottles in Les Extraits Collection, while the crumpled metal details echo the bottle’s cap.
