Victory travels in Louis Vuitton: The Maison presents a selection of its bespoke trunks designed for the world’s most prestigious sporting trophies.
Louis Vuitton trophy trunks perpetuate the Maison’s long tradition of creating elegant and ingenious cases for travelers to transport their most precious belongings. Allowing the trophies to be safely transported and displayed, each trunk is handcrafted in Asnières, just outside Paris, by Louis Vuitton’s master artisans.
FIFA World Cup™
As part of its partnership with one of the world's greatest sporting events, Louis Vuitton has specially designed trunks for the 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups™. The Trophy Trunk has been carefully crafted to protect the sought-after trophy’s 6.175 kilograms of 18-carat gold and malachite. A gracious and intelligent means of transporting and displaying football’s greatest prize, this elegant case continues Louis Vuitton’s 160-year association with legends: from royalty, writers, explorers to the most recognizable trophy in the world.
Davis Cup
For the third time, this year’s Davis Cup trophy was presented to the 2022 world champion team in a bespoke Louis Vuitton Trophy Travel Case. Covered in the iconic Monogram Macassar canvas, the unique circular trunk sits atop the cup’s remarkable oversized base, opening at the top and on two sides to create a perfect showcase.
Rugby World Cup
Louis Vuitton becomes the Official Trophy Travel Case Supplier of the Rugby World Cup France 2023 with a bespoke trunk that will showcase the coveted Webb Ellis Cup. Marking a new chapter in Louis Vuitton’s long-standing relationship with the Rugby World Cup and after a first trophy case in 2015, the new trunk was hand-crafted by experienced artisans in the historic workshops in Asnières outside Paris. The exterior is covered in the legendary Monogram canvas, with a blue, white and red V reflecting the tournament’s colors and the Roman numerals XV representing the number of players in a rugby union team. The case is lined with rich Louis Vuitton leather in the same Pantone blue as the painted V detail, a first in the history of the Maison’s trophy trunks.
Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco™
For the second year in a row, the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco™ Trophy was awarded in a bespoke Louis Vuitton travel case. Carrying on the partnership between Louis Vuitton and the Automobile Club de Monaco, the trunk showcases Louis Vuitton’s traditional savoir-faire while drawing inspiration from the heritage of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco™. Seven distinct steps performed by three specialized artisans were required to create this one-of-a-kind trunk, from its initial conception to the structure’s woodwork, canvas coating, lozinage binding, metallic fittings and final assembly. The iconic Monogram canvas is adorned with the red shade of the Monaco flag while the red lines, tracing the “V” for “Victory”, are rimmed with a white strip, reminiscent of the unique urban route of the track where driving excellence goes hand in hand with power and precision. This tailor-made trunk, in the colors of the Principality, holds the trophy depicting the 19 turns of the 3.337-kilometer track.
NBA’s Larry O’Brien
For the third year in a row, Louis Vuitton has specially designed trunks for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, given to the winner of the NBA Finals Champions. Launched in 2020, the global partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) established Louis Vuitton as the first-ever Official Trophy Travel Case provider and marked a new chapter in the Maison’s long history of custom trunks for the world’s most coveted trophies. Expertly hand-crafted in the Maison’s historic Asnières workshop outside of Paris, the case is coated in the emblematic Monogram canvas, fitted with traditional brass fixtures, and adorned with the iconic V in white with blue and red details. Inside, the NBA’s official dark blue color lines the case to showcase the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
League of Legends’ Summoner’s Cup
Louis Vuitton’s first eSport trophy case was first presented at the League of Legends 2019 World Championships in Paris. As part of a pioneering partnership with Riot Games, the Maison crafted an exceptional and innovative trunk for the World Championship of League of Legends, the most popular multiplayer video game in the world. Combining traditional savoir-faire and ultra-modern high-tech elements inspired by the world of League of Legends, the unique trunk comprises of five ultra-powerful LEDs for the unveiling ceremony World Championship Finals in Paris in 2019 and in Shanghai in 2020.
Roland Garros’ Suzanne Lenglen Cup and Musketeers’ Cup
Louis Vuitton joined forces with the French Tennis Federation for the 2017 and 2018 editions of Roland Garros. The Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles champions of Roland Garros’ tournament have won the prestigious Suzanne Lenglen Cup and the Musketeers’ Cup. These trophies were presented in two trunks designed by Louis Vuitton and present customized hand-paintings of the posters of both tournaments. This marks a legitimate collaboration for two illustrious French brands particularly attached to savoir-faire, excellence, art, and promoting Paris and France worldwide. Dressed in the iconic Monogram canvas, these trunks are both fitted with signature brass corners and lock. The terracotta-colored interior evokes the clay surface. On the front, a 'V' reminiscent of the lines on a tennis court adds the finishing touch to the trunk’s design.
America’s Cup
Louis Vuitton equipped the America’s Cup in 2017 with its bespoke trunk for the 35th competition of the oldest international sporting competition in the world. Featuring a vivid scarlet V to reflect the new Louis Vuitton America’s Cup logo, the trophy trunk was handmade by three craftsmen, resulting in over 400 man-hours of work, through seven steps of fabrication in Louis Vuitton’s historical workshop in Asnières.
