Travellers' Tales Bags Unpacked is a compendium of stories from the lives of the most alluring and elegant adventurers. Find out who packed 'a thousand absolutely necessary suitcases', who discovered his notes for a timeless bestseller in a suitcase at the Paris Ritz and who fitted an entire bed into their trunk. Spanning from the age of the steamship to the present day, 50 audacious travellers tell their tales. Read stories from actors, aristocrats, adventurers, musicians, artists and fashion muses, from Tamara de Lempicka to Madonna, Henri Matisse to Jeff Koons, Sarah Bernhardt to Sharon Stone, Paul Poiret to Karl Lagerfeld. Portraits from Pierre Le-Tan enhance these beguiling stories, written by Bertil Scali, which uncover the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Pierre Le-Tan was born in 1950 and began his career as an illustrator for The New Yorker in 1968. His drawings adorn the covers of many books and have been exhibited internationally, notably at a retrospective at the Reina Sofia Museum of Modern Art in Madrid. Bertil Scali was born in Paris in 1969 and worked as a reporter at Paris Match magazine, during which time he honed his talent for biographical writing. He wrote the historical novel Villa Windsor (2016) and co-wrote Hitler, My Neighbor: Memoirs of a Jewish Childhood (2013), which is available in 13 languages.
