Fashion Eye Rajasthan
The Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye collection presents photographer Bharat Sikka’s uniquely playful vision of the Land of Kings, Rajasthan. Renowned for blending the ordinary with the magical, Sikka creates layered visual narratives with a deliberate choice of color – inspired by his master Raghubir Singh. Here, his lens navigates India’s duality, capturing the “chaos” and coexistence of slums and palaces, plastic and fabric, and elephants and bikes. Choosing reinvention over description, Sikka’s art defies folkloric clichés. Instead, he adopts Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s authentic yet staged approach – injecting fiction into his street scenes via drawings and textures. The result is a version of Rajasthan that deconstructs stereotypical perception, conveying a cinematic truth. Each title in the series features an extensive selection of large-format photographs, together with biographical information and an interview with the photographer or a critical essay. After the Louis Vuitton City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection presents travel photography with a fashion perspective, as the chosen photographers all infuse their images of great cities, faraway places or dream destinations with their unique vision.
