The “Folding” exhibition honors the boundlessly imaginative artist Simon Hantaï (1922-2008) and a series of audacious works featuring his original pliage technique. The innovative process comprises a crumpled and knotted canvas which is uniformly painted over and then unraveled to reveal a matrix of alternations between pigment and ground. This exclusive exhibition, specifically conceived for the Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka, showcases a vast series of works, all belonging to the Collection, created between the early 1960s and the 1980s.
