Today, the House embarks on an unprecedented exploration. Having devoted his first creations to women, the Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud now takes a different path.

This time, he proposes a journey dedicated to men, delving into the heart of their instincts for freedom and their pioneering sensibility. Five exceptional fragrances pay homage to the adventurer on a quest for self-revelation.

Sometimes, finding yourself before a limitless horizon that stretches to the sky is all it takes to make your heart beat faster. Inspired by this invigorating impression captured during his travels, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed a laser-sharp ode to freshness. A crackling whisper of ginger brightened by the bitterness of grapefruit and softened by an addictive and sensual amber note. The promise of new horizons, like a fresh page waiting to invent a new life.

The astonishing and unexpected encounter of oud and cocoa

Discovering new cultures can forever alter the course of one’s existence. In evoking the memory of the legendary explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, one of Louis Vuitton’s first clients, who traveled throughout Africa with his custom-made Brazza trunk-bed, perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud created a completely unexpected accord: the meeting of a raw cocoa bean with an extremely rare oud assam. Then, in a last surprise reconciliation of shadow and light, saffron plays a spicy harmony on the skin. A whirlwind of essences to which one surrenders gladly.

At once magical and frightening, the storm’s connection with the sky symbolizes man’s union with the earth. The sacred resonates within the deepest self. From this connection with untamed nature, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud created a surprising woody fragrance. To express the paradox of mankind’s fragility and the raw force of the elements, Orage blends the nobility of iris with vetiver’s vegetal freshness and a patchouli leaf heart. Majestically, the patchouli commands attention, as luminous as lightning. Suddenly, you crave only one thing: to lean in closer, and breathe in every note.

A dash of cédrat evokes brand new adventures

A metaphor for each individual’s personal path: the journey is as important as the destination. One projects onto it dreams for the future; the past flashes before one’s eyes; energy is drawn from it with which to accomplish the wildest of dreams. Inspired by the wind rushing against the skin at full speed, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud composed a fragrance as fresh as a splash of water on the cheeks. Here, he blends Calabrian citrus, starting with cédrat and bergamot, to which he added a grassy green accent and the enveloping scents of Peruvian balsam. A fragrance that resonates like the most vivid heartbeat.

Taking a detour for an unforeseen destination. Following instinct, not reason. When embarking on the adventure of travel, chance encounters upend the most meticulously laid plans and magnify unexpected sensations. To embody that feeling, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud cultivates mystery by using sandalwood of exceptional quality. Onto this spellbinding, milky wood he grafted ambrette seed, which at first evokes pear liqueur and then cottony musk. On the skin, spicy variations of cardamom add to the disruption. Au Hasard defies the codes of woody virility by giving it a disarming sensitivity. A totemic perfume.

Itinerary of a Grasse native

As a schoolboy in Grasse, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud would walk by an imposing portal. He had no idea what sat behind the wrought iron gates that so intrigued him. Little could he have imagined that, in 2016, this very place would become his creative workshop.

At the age of eight, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud went to his father, a perfumer, and told him he wanted to follow in his footsteps. He learned perfume notes the way other children practiced piano scales. When he got good grades in school, his father allowed him to weigh out formulas. The day after receiving his high school diploma, he began working in a perfume factory in Grasse, where he learned to distill flowers.

At 18, he created his first formula - but his father reminded him that becoming a perfumer takes much more than mixing a few scents together. It would take a lot of hard work to be hired at the perfume company Firmenich, where he would spend the next 22 years.

Named Maître Parfumeur of Louis Vuitton in 2012, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud traveled the world for four years to perfect the first collection of Louis Vuitton perfumes.
