Louis Vuitton adds a new edition to its Travel Book series, devoted to Los Angeles by Javier Mariscal.

Next stop Los Angeles, through the eyes of Javier Mariscal. The Louis Vuitton Travel Book series invites renowned artists and promising young talents to tell stories of places they have visited, depicting each place’s varied architecture and special light, and recording the passing days and lives of its people. For the new Los Angeles edition, the Spanish artist Javier Mariscal brings his edgy and unbridled style to the sprawling Californian city.

A graphic designer, illustrator, filmmaker, painter, sculptor and ceramist, Javier Mariscal loves to challenge everything he encounters: his motto is "hay que romper con todo" (you have to break with everything). As a dyslexic child, he was obsessed with drawing from a very early age and fascinated by letters and typography, a passion that would have a substantial influence on his work.

Nicolas Ghesquière presents his Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2019 Collection on seventeen friends who illustrate the diversity of feminine expression.

Vikander, Léa Seydoux and Jennifer Connelly. In his own words: "These women embrace the various personalities that embody fashion at Louis Vuitton. Be they stars or new faces, all of them share the same willpower and confidence in their choices, and at the same time, they reflect the eclecticism of the female identity."

The Pre-Fall 2019 Collection brings together two contrasting sensibilities: city and country meet in a wardrobe that alternates between urban weekday attitude and rural weekend mood. Bucolic prints and tartan checks are treated with strictly tailored lines, while floral blouses, streamlined pants, pleated skirts and oversized jumpers create a happy clash of genres that defines the season's eclectically bold look.

Take a closer look at Nicolas Ghesquière's Louis Vuitton Cruise 2020 Collection, presented at the TWA Flight Center in New York.

The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2020 Collection delved into the long-running stylistic conversation between Paris, home of Louis Vuitton, and New York, one of the world's most fascinating cities. Artistic Director of Women's Collections Nicolas Ghesquière explored this sartorial exchange through a mash-up of New York City references. The legendary skyline has been transposed as prints on jackets while world-famous skyscrapers have been transformed into bedazzled handbags. The pinstripes of the Wall Street uniform take on a new form on draped silhouettes and graphic nods to Gotham City evoke the unique place that New York holds in the collective imaginary.

  • CRUISE 2020 SHOW: KEY LOOKS

Louis Vuitton presents highlights from Nicolas Ghesquière's Cruise 2020 Collection, shown at the TWA Flight Center in New York.

The dialogue between Paris and New York is a long-running conversation that Louis Vuitton began with the first trans-Atlantic crossings, and that continues today with the Cruise 2020 Collection, presented at the old TWA Terminal at JFK Airport.

On the one hand, there is America's historic fascination with French fashion and the Couture spirit. On the other, there is the foreigner's fantasy of the incredible city that is New York. Nicolas Ghesquière expresses this stylistic to and fro through outlines of legendary buildings transposed as sophisticated prints, clever embroideries, and dazzling brocades. Acid colours recall the brilliant lights across Manhattan, from Downtown to Uptown. Pinstripes poetically transgress from the Wall Street uniform while shaded silhouettes stir a Gotham City ambiance. This sartorial exchange revels in a mash-up of references, emotions and stories set against the unique backdrop of the world’s most imaginative airport terminal, in the world's most cinematic city.
