Unveiling the second chapter of the Louis Vuitton Men's Spring-Summer 2019 Campaign, photographed by Mohamed Bourouissa.
For the Men’s Spring-Summer 2019 Campaign, Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh continues to illuminate the values established in his debut collection in the second of his three-part campaign. Titled "The Painter's Studio," the campaign reimagines in photography the 1855 oil on canvas work of the same name by the French realist Gustave Courbet.
Painted the year after Louis Vuitton's establishment, the original work depicts Courbet working on a painting, flanked to his left by people from all levels of French society, and to his right by members of high society. Through Virgil Abloh's contemporary perspective and the lens of Algerian photographer Mohamed Bourouissa, the Artistic Director is pictured fitting a look from Spring-Summer 2019 surrounded by members of his team, social circle, and models, each clad in the collection.
Where Courbet's painting interpreted 'real world' society for the eyes of the cultural elite, the campaign portrays the all-encompassing exchange that defines Virgil Abloh's vision for Louis Vuitton: diversity, inclusivity, and unity.Menswear Virgil Abloh Spring-summer
