MYTHIC MONOGRAM

What a wonderful story the Monogram has to tell, expressing as it does the love and admiration of Louis Vuitton’s son Georges for his brilliant father. The delicate design was conceived in 1896, inspired by the pattern of four-petal flowers on the Gien earthenware tiles in the family kitchen in Asnières. To this figurative lucky charm, Georges added the initials of the founder – an L and a V intertwined, like a heartfelt pledge and an unbreakable bond between his and future generations. The Monogram pattern has travelled through time for more than a century – eternally youthful, unfailingly modern, and renowned all over the world. It has become a symbol of a certain excellence, the signature of a unique savoir-faire à la française, setting the seal on Louis Vuitton creations. It continues to write its own legend with endless energy and a sense of adventure. Reconciling rigorous classicism with extravagant flights of fancy, it tirelessly pushes the boundaries of pattern. In 2017, the Monogram is more magnificent than ever. Long may it continue to be the canvas of our dreams!
